Over 80 elected officials, artisans, and economic stakeholders gathered in Montmoreau to highlight the transmission and recovery of artisanal businesses. The event, part of the "Villes et Villages de la Reprise 2026" initiative led by CMA Nouvelle-Aquitaine with support from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, underscored the commitment of local authorities.
Geneviève Brangé, president of CMA Nouvelle-Aquitaine – Charente, officially presented the trophy to Jean-Yves Ambaud, president of the Lavalette Tude Dronne Community of Communes. This award recognizes the community's dedication to preserving know-how, jobs, and local economic dynamism.
The evening also featured a round table with three experts: Thomas Ruault (Crédit Mutuel du Sud-Ouest), Stéphane Rouyer (CMA Nouvelle-Aquitaine – Charente), and Séverine Groulet (Lavalette Tude Dronne Community of Communes). They discussed the challenges and steps involved in a business recovery project.
Three recently established business owners shared their experiences: Vanessa and Cédric Campagnac (Au Triangle des Douceurs bakery), Cédric Lafage (Lafage German Auto garage), and Teddy Gendron (Scierie Gendron). Their testimonials illustrated the opportunities and realities of taking over an existing business.
In Charente, 124 businesses were identified for sale in 2025. CMA Nouvelle-Aquitaine – Charente assisted 39 business leaders with transmission projects and 90 entrepreneurs with recovery projects. The institution emphasizes the importance of anticipating transmission to ensure the continuity of artisanal businesses.
