AFNOR has published the Spec One Health, a shared operational framework aimed at harmonizing actions for human, animal, and environmental health.

Following the One Health Summit, AFNOR has launched the Spec One Health. Initiated by the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (Anses) under the impetus of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, and co-written with around thirty organizations, this standard offers a management method and a common language for public and private stakeholders. The goal is to steer their activities while reducing their impact on various health aspects.
In the face of health crises, climate urgency, and biodiversity loss, the 'One Health' approach recognizes the interdependence between human, animal, plant, and environmental health. The One Health Summit, held in April 2026 in Lyon as part of France's G7 presidency, highlighted the need to accelerate its implementation.
The AFNOR Spec One Health provides guidelines for integrating this approach into daily management. It invites organizations to identify externalities and risks related to their activities on different health and ecosystem aspects. This voluntary framework aims to strengthen the prevention of health and environmental risks and improve the resilience of socio-economic systems, in line with international standards such as ISO 26000, ISO 31000, and ISO 14001.
The result of a collaborative effort between Anses and 33 stakeholders from various sectors, this French standard could eventually lead to an international ISO standard. It is available for free download.
