Following the announcement of the closure of the CEV (Construction Electrique du Vivarais) site in Privas, impacting approximately 130 employees and a subsidiary of the Schneider Electric group, institutional and economic stakeholders in the region have mobilized. In accordance with legal obligations for large companies during restructurings affecting the local area, a revitalization agreement has been implemented with the State.
A steering committee met on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Prefecture of Privas. The meeting was chaired by the Prefect of Ardèche, Mr. Benoît TREVISANI, with the presence of CEV management and local partners. Among them were Yann VIVAT, President of the CAPCA, Michel VALLA, vice-president in charge of economic development, employment, and territorial attractiveness, and Coralie HILAIRE, councilor delegate for entrepreneurship, economic activity establishment, and project leader support.
The objectives of this steering committee, which resulted in the signing of the revitalization agreement, included analyzing the economic and social challenges linked to this closure, mobilizing resources, and setting objectives for supporting local businesses and recreating jobs.
The central challenge of this collective initiative is to offset the impact of this departure, support the development projects of local companies, and revitalize the employment area of Privas. This mobilization is considered essential to transform this particularly impactful job-related closure into an opportunity for the Ardèche economy.
