Taxi professionals in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes can now benefit from public aid of up to €7,500 for the acquisition of an electric vehicle, thereby reducing operating costs and environmental impact.

The acquisition of an electric taxi represents an option worth considering for professionals in the sector. Beyond the purchase price, expenses related to fuel, maintenance, and repairs directly impact operating costs. Switching to electric can significantly reduce these energy and maintenance expenses, while also contributing to a lower environmental footprint for the business.
Currently, two public aid schemes are available to finance the transition of taxi vehicles to electric. Subject to eligibility and the combination of these aids, it is possible to receive up to €7,500 for the purchase of a new electric taxi.
A national aid program, implemented since September 1st and valid until December 31st, 2026, is specifically reserved for taxis (excluding VTCs). It offers a minimum amount of €3,500, which can reach €5,500 if the vehicle and its battery are manufactured in Europe. This aid is directly deducted by the dealership at the time of purchase. To be eligible, the vehicle must meet certain criteria: a minimum environmental performance threshold, a weight of less than 2,400 kg, and a maximum cost of €65,000 excluding options.
Additionally, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region offers a flat-rate aid of €2,000 for artisanal taxi businesses. To qualify, the company must have fewer than 10 employees, hold a parking permit in the region, and be up-to-date with its administrative obligations. It is essential to submit the application before signing the quote or purchase order.
To facilitate the financing of these projects, the Chamber of Trades and Crafts (CMA) Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes also offers the Zero-Interest Loan for Artisans (Prêt Artisans à Taux Zéro).
Environmental advisors at the CMA are available to assist professionals with their applications and assess their eligibility for these schemes. A Mobility Diagnostic can be conducted to analyze travel patterns, mileage, and costs associated with the current vehicle, helping to make the most suitable choice for the business.
