Launched in June 2026, the digital platform Werin, originating from the University of Montpellier, aims to democratize market finance by enabling users to model personalized stock portfolios.

Developed with an innovative algorithm created at the University of Montpellier and supported by the Innovation University Hub (PUI) ecosystem, Werin was designed to simplify stock market investment, an activity often reserved for insiders.
Patrick Sentis, a finance professor at UM and researcher at the Montpellier Research in Management (MRM) laboratory, is behind this initiative. He envisioned Werin to make portfolio selection and analysis methods more accessible. 'During the Covid period, I realized... that there was no simple solution allowing someone wanting to invest independently to select stocks based on ponderable criteria. So I created Werin,' he explains.
Initially modeled on Excel in 2020, the platform already allowed for portfolio construction based on ponderable criteria, such as dividend distribution or adherence to ecological conditions. After training in programming, Professor Sentis optimized the program to generate a personalized portfolio in seconds.
With the support of SATT AxLR and the INITIUM incubator, the Werin project has been structured. The company was officially established at the end of 2025, secured by a data access agreement with international leader LSEG-Refinitiv. The start-up also benefited from the Booster Innovation Montpellier (BIM), receiving an additional 36,000 euros.
Launched in June 2026 after a fundraising round of 250,000 euros, Werin not only builds personalized portfolios but also allows them to be 'backtested' over five or ten years. The platform also enables users to choose their own stocks, with twelve different metrics and an AI-generated textual summary.
The large-scale commercialization phase is now underway, with the goal of promoting long-term investment to finance the real economy, including targeting the Chinese market.
