A new 7-hectare photovoltaic plant, featuring 7668 panels, has been inaugurated in La Douze, Périgord. This project, supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and utilizing the produced electricity, aims to reduce the carbon footprint.

Over 7500 photovoltaic panels have been installed across a total area of 19,808 m² for this new solar farm. The project, with a total cost of €5.1 million, received €600,000 in support from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region.
Le Grand Périgueux contributed to the realization of this plant by providing a 7-hectare site. In return, the agglomeration will receive an annual fee under a 30-year emphyteutic lease. "We are proud to mobilize for projects that develop the territory and economic activity," stated Jacques Auzou, President of Le Grand Périgueux.
The electricity produced by this plant will be used by the company Emmi Desserts (formerly Mademoiselle Desserts), offering price visibility on energy consumption for 20 years. "As soon as we had the opportunity to source electricity locally, we did it," affirmed Didier Boudy, president of Emmi Desserts, emphasizing the importance of local sourcing.
The annual production of this plant is estimated at 5,150 MWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of 2,316 people. It will prevent the annual release of 1,225.7 tonnes of CO² into the atmosphere. Jean-Pierre Raynaud, vice-president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, highlighted the importance of supporting this project for the local agri-food sector.
