The economic activity report for Dordogne in the first half of 2026 reveals persistent tensions. Demand continues to weigh on businesses, particularly in retail, artisanal production, the HCR (Hotels, Cafes, Restaurants) sector, and construction (BTP). These sectors are seeing their order books, cash flow, and profit margins affected, leading many companies to limit investments and adjust staffing levels.
In agriculture, unfavorable climatic conditions have also weakened several sectors. These difficulties are compounded by constraints related to operating costs and market evolution.
Regarding the outlook for the second half of 2026, business leaders anticipate a slow recovery. Demand is expected to remain weak, maintaining pressure on cash flow and limiting investment projects. The HCR, services, retail, and BTP sectors remain the most exposed. Although prospects are slightly more favorable for large supermarkets (GMS) and industry, the general economic climate encourages caution, cost control, and wait-and-see attitudes.
Territorially, the Périgord Noir region appears to show more degraded prospects, while the Bergeracois area maintains relatively better-oriented indicators.
